Kelly Sweeney

Secretary

Kelly Sweeney is one of the founders and current president of the Friends of Twin Lakes, a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, seeking to improve life for residents, visitors and businesses in southern Lake County.  Among other activities through the Friends of Twin Lakes, Kelly works as a volunteer at the Twin Lakes Visitor Center, does  trail preservation work, worked on the rehabilitation of the Twin Lakes Schoolhouse and is active in making the southern fire station a reality.

As the Friends of Twin Lakes has grown and become more engaged in Lake County, Kelly has seen the importance of southern Lake County residents promoting and participating in activities that benefit all of Lake County.  Being involved in Lake County Community Fund is a way to leverage and maximize the potential of all area non-profits, offering resources, networking and collaboration on levels not previously available.  It has created a genuine sense of greater community truly uniting the county.

Prior to July of 2015, Kelly working in federal court management, serving as the Chief Deputy Clerk for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Colorado for 10 years.  She also was a trial attorney for the Department of Justice for 7 years and before that worked in several law firms and as a law clerk to a federal judge.  Kelly received her J.D. from the University of Colorado School of Law and a B.A. and B.S. degrees from the University of North Dakota.

Kelly and her husband Robert Krehbiel enjoy kayaking regularly on the waters around southern Lake County and cherish the natural beauty in the area.
