Statement from our Executive Director

In light of the recent federal executive orders impacting our community, the Lake County Community Fund (LCCF) is committed to ensuring we remain informed, supportive, and resilient. These challenges have ripple effects, and our community is feeling the strain.

Our role as a community foundation has been to bring people together and to protect and support all our residents. At this inflection point, the Lake County Community Fund will continue to serve as a beacon and work to inspire hope in everyone who calls Lake County home.

At LCCF, we’re taking action to:

  • Work with community-based organizations to reduce service interruptions: LCCF is committed to sharing timely information on the impact of federal changes.
  • Promote collaboration among nonprofit, business, and government leaders: Community-wide coordination and collaboration are essential to reduce service interruptions as much as possible.
  • Provide community members meaningful ways to play a role in solutions: As we work to build an understanding of critical services that will be impacted, we know your donations, volunteer time, and donated goods will be needed. We will be sending out clear steps for how you can play an important role in keeping our community strong.
  • Support responsible economic development: We should engage our business community to encourage investments in expanding economic opportunities for all and ensuring our work forces can prosper.
  • Advocate for supportive policies: We will contact our elected representatives and share our concerns for how executive directives are impacting Lake County.

As articulated in our Strategic Plan, we are guided by shared values of respect, dignity, inclusion, and a spirit of collective good. These values have been at the core of our work. The Lake County Community Fund reaffirms our commitment to these values as we endeavor to create a community where everyone can thrive.

We will continue to support our immigrant residents, friends, and neighbors who have come here seeking freedom and opportunity.

This is a moment for us to rally together. Working together, we can provide the stability our community deserves. Together, we will weather this storm and emerge even stronger.

With gratitude,
John McMurtry
