Director
Becca is the Community Learning Director for Lake County School District and Get Outdoors Leadville! (GOL!). In this role, she is working with teachers, administrators, and staff at LCSD to design and implement outdoor and environmental education experiences to enhance learning and culture-building efforts in our schools.
Becca is a spunky Wisconsinite at heart, though she has spent almost 2 decades living in the amazing West. Her tenure west of the Mississippi started at Stanford University where she received her B.A. in Latin American History and M.S. in Earth Systems. In college, Becca also participated in a NOLS semester in Patagonia and studied in Bolivia. Becca has been teaching and leading wilderness and international trips for her entire adult life. In 2008, Becca joined the HMI faculty as the Spanish teacher. Then, after teaching Spanish for two years in Durango at Animas High School, Becca returned to HMI (and Leadville) as the Dean of Students. She loves Leadville and is excited to be part of the Lake County Community Fund to sustain our awesome mountain town.
Becca has served on local boards including Partnership for Lake County Recreation (current), Lake County Recreation Advisory Board, and the Youth Master Plan Steering Committee. Outside of work, Becca enjoys biking, camping, being outside in any fashion, cooking, eating, talking, hanging out with friends, and spending time with her hilarious husband, Eric, and silly pup, Arty.
