Lake County Nonprofits Raise $80,000 on Colorado Gives Day!
Leadville, CO – During the 24 hours of Colorado and Lake County Gives Day, 391 donors contributed $80,524 to Lake County nonprofits.
The Lake County Community Fund was the regional champion for Colorado Gives Day, which this year was Tuesday, December 7.
Included in this total was a contribution of $3,600 by The City of Leadville Town Council.

“This was our second year as the Regional Champion and I want to express our deep appreciation to the many donors who contributed to our critically important Lake County nonprofit organizations,” said John McMurtry, Executive Director for the Lake County Community Fund. “These contributions will truly make a difference by adding vital resources to our Lake County organizations as well as creating awareness of our nonprofit sector.”
The additional funding raised through Colorado Gives Day will support initiatives such as food security, after school programs, early childhood education, affordable healthcare, cultural and historic preservation, environmental causes, and many more.
During the first two years as Regional Champion, 650 donors have contributed $130,551 to Lake County nonprofit organizations.
Colorado donors raised a whopping $54,409,297 for Colorado nonprofits on Colorado Gives Day, breaking all records and expectations.
“We are blown away and humbled by the generosity shown to Colorado nonprofits on Colorado Gives Day,” said Kelly Dunkin, president and CEO of Community First Foundation, the organization that created the giving event. “Coloradans recognize and appreciate the value our nonprofits give in helping everyone in our community thrive. From ensuring people have food and housing to supporting mental wellness to making the arts accessible to all – it all becomes possible when donors make good happen.”
Donors represented 10 countries and all 50 states plus Puerto Rico, Armed Forces Europe, Armed Forces Pacific, and Federated States of Micronesia.
Colorado Gives Day has raised more than $361 million since it launched in 2010, making it among the most successful giving days in the nation. The ColoradoGives.org online giving site has raised more than $486 million since it went live in 2007.
Lake County Gives serves as the platform for donors to learn about participating local nonprofits and make online donations to those nonprofits on Colorado Gives Day and throughout the year.
